At the recent AHR show in Dallas, Emerson Climate Technologies introduced several new products including the Ultratech communicating system for residential use. This system ties together the thermostat, variable speed motor, unitary control and UltraTech compressor. The system auto-configures and checks system settings and there is not need to set DIP-switch settings on indoor blower motors. The compressor modulates the capacity from 10 to 100 percent, so that the output precisely matches the changing cooling demand of the room, and it does this without changing the motor speed of the motor. This approach to capacity modulation is as much as 30 percent more efficient than traditional hot-gas bypass and is capable of holding a precise temperature to within half a degree Fahrenheit. Variable speed compressors from Danfoss. The compressors can be used singly, or in a hybrid fashion with a fixed-speed compressor. Powelson says that the compressor is so reliable it can be turned on and, essentially, “never turned off.” Designed for applications where temperature needs may fluctuate —such as conference rooms, classrooms, movie theaters, and restaurants — and precise temperature control is needed. |
