The General Purpose pumps utilize a simple and economical "floating rotor" design, in which the rotor/shaft is not retained by a thrust bearing, and is allowed to "float" within the pump head. This reduces the available pressure and allowable viscosity compared to a thrust bearing design like the Universal Seal or Heavy Duty series, but is well suited to many medium duty applications.
Depending on the model and size, sealing options include packing, component mechanical seals or lip seals.
Some models are available with optional UL listing for Fuel Oil, for use in the assembly of power-operated oil burners or for use as oil-transfer pumps for No. 6 or lighter fuel oil (Series 432-X, sizes C - HL, and Series 456-X, sizes C - FH). |
| | The Viking Mag Drive series of sealless internal gear pumps eliminate the possibility of shaft leakage by eliminating the seal. The driver turns an outer magnet, whose force passes through a hermetically sealed canister to inner magnets, which in turn drive the pump shaft. Mag drive pumps are used wherever leakage is a problem, such as acids, volatile organic chemicals, or toxic fluids.The pump provides the world's largest selection of rotary lobe pumps for hygienic and industrial applications, including the AccuLobe, DuraLobe, Classic, SQ and SteriLobe series.
